You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain financial records, analyze financial data, determine the appropriate account treatment of transactions, and contribute to the overall financial health of the company. This position will be working in a cross-matrix environment with other teams in the Controllers group. This position is also expected to participate in and suggest improvements to the financial system project, claims system conversion and special projects as applicable.

The position performs the following which will evolve as system implementations are completed:

• Manage day-to-day expense review, journal entry reclasses, and monthly accrual process, utilizing professional judgement to drive business policy with regards to appropriate accounting treatment.
• Responsible for correct application of US GAAP and statutory accounting requirements.
• Collaborate with Accounts Payable (AP) department as needed for research and resolution of questions.
• Understand, evaluate, and apply improvements to allocation process for expenses utilized in Workday and utilize professional judgement to perform reclasses and corrections to ensure correct accounts and cost centers are used.
• Work closely with Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team to analyze expenses and support budgeting processes.
• Analyze risk areas in current accounting policies and processes and implement improvements.
• Ensure compliance with corporate reporting requirements, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Provide internal and external reporting, including regulatory filings and financial statements.
• Produce quarterly statutory reporting, in accordance with the regulatory rules around the templates and reporting.
• Other tasks and reconciliations as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• 1-2 years of accounting experience supporting and performing journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Proficient in Excel, with ability to use filters, formulas and use pivot tables.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and trends.
• Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and integrity in financial reporting.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic environment.
